Skebo gets the opportunity to build another 140 new homes in Skellefteå. It is clear after Skellefteå's municipal board decided on the allocation of two land properties on Morön/Getberget and Morö Backe. In 2026, the new apartments can be ready for occupancy.

- We are really happy about the allocations and will work to ensure that construction on both properties begins as soon as possible, says Harriet Classon, chairman Skebo.

On Morön/Getberget, construction can start as early as summer and the intention is to build 60-70 apartments spread over two buildings with up to six floors. At the turn of the year 2025/2026, the first apartments can be ready to move into.

In order to speed up the process to the start of construction, Skebo is looking at the possibility of using framework agreement procurement via Sweden's public utility.

- We have prepared to quickly get started with procurement and production. We are in a situation with a record number of people moving into Skellefteå and we see that we need to be a key player in creating a wide range of housing. But to meet the needs, we need to be several players who invest and build, says Helena Markgren.

On Morö Backe, two-storey buildings with up to 70–80 apartments are planned. There, the detailed plan has recently gained legal force and in the block that is now assigned to Skebo, existing infrastructure can be used, which enables an immediate start of construction.

- It is a good example of how we think new in the unique location we have in Skellefteå. The process has really been solution-oriented and moved quickly from detailed plan to land allocation to planned start of construction, continues Helena Markgren.

Patrik Larsen is land and development manager at Skellefteå municipality. He, too, is positive about the rapid process that leads to more housing in a growing Skellefteå:

- We work actively with land allocation where we have ready detailed plans. Our goal is to start an increased production of housing as quickly as possible, and Skebo is a good player there as they wholeheartedly support that goal, says Patrik Larsen, land and development manager at Skellefteå municipality.
