Skellefteå municipality has now decided to allocate Skebo with two land areas that will enable the construction of nearly 400 new apartments. The areas in question, Nornan at Getberget and Norra Nyckelgatan, are important for Skebo's ongoing efforts to meet the housing needs in Skellefteå.
Nornan at Getberget - 180 new apartments
The property Nornan already has a completed detailed plan that allows for approximately 180 apartments in the popular area of Getberget. With cycling distance to the city center and close proximity to green areas, schools, and sports facilities, Nornan becomes an attractive choice for residents in Skellefteå. The preliminary construction start is scheduled for summer 2025, with occupancy expected in 2027.
- Nornan is an important step in our continued new production at Getberget. After completing 155 apartments in the area earlier, we now look forward to offering an additional 180 residences that enhance the attractiveness of Getberget," says Helena Markgren, CEO of Skebo.
The planned multi-family houses will be eight stories high, with parking and common facilities such as environmental rooms and bicycle storage on the ground floor. Residents will have access to large communal gardens connected to Getberget's recreational areas.
Norra Nyckelgatan - approximately 180 new apartments
On Norra Nyckelgatan in the Sunnanå district, Skebo plans to build five residential buildings with 4-6 stories (see illustration above). The sloping area allows for south-facing, sunny yards and car-free residential courtyards. The detailed plan has been under review but has not yet been adopted. The preliminary construction start is set for summer 2025, and occupancy is expected in 2027.
Norra Nyckelgatan will offer around 150 car parking spaces under the buildings and a total of 210 bicycle parking spaces to promote sustainable living close to both city and nature.
Skebo's projects are progressing
Despite recent reports of Northvolt scaling back its operations in Skellefteå, Skebo's planned projects are not affected. The need for permanent housing remains, and the new projects at Getberget and Norra Nyckelgatan are an important part of addressing the long-term housing needs in the municipality.
- There is a shortfall to cover as we still have far too many temporary accommodations and rentals within the municipality, but we will carefully monitor future developments before each specific project's investment decision. We also aim to complete residential areas near our properties to minimize disruptions for all residents in the surrounding area," says Harriet Classon, Chairperson of Skebo.
